offers a wide variety of classes for your
'Health & Wellness'.
Offerings:
Boro Medical Health Screenings

Once a month, Boro Medical provides a staff of health care professionals who come to the Carter Burden Luncheon Club. They are there to answer questions on general health and also to do blood pressure screenings. Refer to the Activies Calandar to see Boro's schedule.
Fitness Class
Twice a week, one of our board members leads a Fitness class held at the Carter Burden Luncheon Club. The instructor incorporates movement, music, and exercise bands to get you moving! Refer to the Activies Calandar to see the Fitness class schedule.
Chair Yoga 
Once a week, a yoga instructor teaches Chair Yoga in the peaceful setting of the Jan Hus Sanctuary. Refer to the Activies Calandar to see the chair yoga schedule.
Dance Class
A professional dancer teaches Social Dancing once a week at the Carter Burden Luncheon Club. Refer to the Activies Calandar to see Dance class schedule.
Meditation Class
Once a week, an instructor take you into a relaxing state of mind in the Meditation class held at the Carter Burden Center.

Better Bones, Better Balance, Better Body
This program is designed to correct and improve posture, alignment, balance, flexibility and strength. Did you know that you can build muscle into your 90’s!!! This program is offered in collaboration with the New York Health & Racquet Club.
Rhythms of Life
The Rhythms of Life class is a unique communal Afro-Cuban drumming program where you will learn to play a number of percussive instruments such as the Cajon, the Wa-Wa and the Clave. Designed to get you moving to the beat, drumming is a heart healthy activity that helps reduce stress and improves eye-hand coordination. It’s exhilarating! C.V. Starr's Health and Wellness Programs:
On a daily basis C.V. Starr offers some form of Health and Wellness program for our participants. Programs are modified to meet the needs of the participants to ensure safety, enjoyment and achievable goals.
Some of the activities offered are as follows:
Aerobic Activities
Dance – Dance allows participants to be creative, socialize and be expressive in a non - threatening environment. For clients who are unable to ambulate they are able to move to the beat of the music while seated.
Bowling – Bowling is a fun and enjoyable activity for participants and at the same time helps them to focus and encourage each other.
Strength Training
Resistive bands – With the use of resistive bands participants are able to do this exercise seated. They are able to target the muscles in their arms.
Flexibility Activities
Stretching – Group leader facilitates morning stretch. All major muscle groups are stretched individually at a slow pace. Participants are encouraged to partake.
Healthy Cooking
Cooking groups include the creation of fruit salads, pumpkin bread puddings and healthy shakes to name a few.
