C. V. Starr Adult Day Services C.V. Starr Adult Day Services is a collaboration between the Carter Burden Center for the Aging, Inc. and ElderServe, the community services division of the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale. The program is available to people residing in Manhattan. The Adult Day Program is a social model day program which offers a full day of therapeutic and recreational programming for older adults experiencing memory impairment or who are physically frail. The Program provides older adults who are living at home and might be isolated an opportunity for socialization and stimulation, as well as providing a respite for caregivers. The programming offers individuals an opportunity for social, recreational, and educational activities that foster relationships and enhance self-esteem. Some of the activities include current events, exercise, creative arts therapies (music and art), horticulture, discussion and reminiscence groups; arts and crafts; special events and trips; intergenerational activities, cooking groups and nutritional education. A continental breakfast, a hot lunch and afternoon snack are served daily. C.V. Starr Adult Day Services is open Monday through Friday. Participants can attend from one day a week to five days a week based on their particular needs and the program's availability. Transportation to and from the program is provided daily in a handicapped accessible van. Adult children who are caregivers to a parent with dementia
are also encouraged to attend the Alzheimer's
Support Group.
