Carter-Burden Luncheon
Club & Senior Program
The Carter Burden Luncheon Club and Senior Program (CBLC&SP),
located at 351 East 74th Street, is a full-service
senior center that has become a hotspot of activity for many Upper East
Side seniors through its innovative meal and activities programs.
The CBLC&SP provides luncheon mealson-site to 100 people
Monday through Friday, and delivers another
100 meals to homebound seniors six days a week. The Club sponsors specific
activities to benefit members, such as free blood pressure, eye screening
and nutrition lectures.
On-site activities include a weekly art class, chair yoga,
movies, guest speakers, intergenerational projects, trips, monthly birthday
and holiday parties, as well as a flea market whose proceeds go to Club
activities. The Club's staff is supported by an extensive volunteer corps
who assist with everything from meal delivery to exercise classes to special
events such as our Annual Christmas Day Dinner and Party.
The CBLC&SP is known in the community as a welcoming,
joy-filled program where people are encouraged to take advantage of new
challenges and opportunities and to celebrate their accomplishments.
