Donations

The Carter Burden Center welcomes and appreciates all gifts received. For more detailed information on giving, please contact the Development office at info@burdencntr.org or 212.879.7400 x204.

Gifts of Cash
The simplest way of contributing, and the most beneficial for our programs is to make a gift of cash. You may donate online (click here) or by mail to: CBCA, Attn: Development, 1484 First Avenue, New York, NY 10075

Attending a Fundraising Event
The Carter Burden Center hosts two successful fundraisers each year that we encourage you to participate in. Our black-tie event, the Annual Fall Dinner & Dance, honors a business leader and a community humanitarian in early winter. Corporations and individuals are encouraged to buy tables or tickets to this event. Our event in the Spring is a cocktail party. By participating in either event, you will be enjoying an elegant evening while helping our Center.

In-Kind Donations
Whether it be gently used office equipment, gifts for a holiday drive, or offering pro-bono services, the Carter Burden Center graciously accepts many different types of in-kind donations. While we appreciate all gifts, we do have some specific needs- please click here to see our "Wish List."

Gifts of Stock, Securities & Capital
Giving long-term appreciated securities provides two income tax benefits: no tax is imposed on the appreciated portion of the gift (long term capital gains), and the donor will receive a charitable deduction based on the stock's fair market value. Because the donor can avoid the capital gains tax, it is usually more advantageous to contribute appreciated securities directly to the Burden Center rather than selling securities and donating the proceeds of the sale.

Stock in a closely held business can also be given to the Carter Burden Center. Stocks that are not publicly traded require special planning and a qualified appraisal. A donor can make a gift of capital to the Carter Burden Center and continue to receive the income from the gift as well as a charitable tax deduction. Donors may make a life income gift through the creation of a charitable reminder annuity trust or unitrust. A donor can also make a gift through a charitable gift annuity.

Matching Gifts
Many businesses have a matching gift program. Under these programs, the company matches all or part of an employee's gift to the Burden Center. Matching gifts are credited to the donor's individual gift record.

Bequests
Donors are encouraged to leave a legacy with the Carter Burden Center by naming the agency as a beneficiary in your will.
